Why Your Nervous System Needs Daily Care

Just as we brush our teeth daily, your nervous system also needs regular attention. Micro-practices throughout the day build regulation and resilience, especially in a world that constantly demands your attention.

Morning Practice: Ground Before You Rise

Before checking your phone or rushing into the day:

  • Sit or lie quietly for 3–5 minutes

  • Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly

  • Inhale deeply through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth

  • Notice your body — the temperature, sensations, and breath

This anchors your system before external input floods your senses.

Midday Reset: Recalibrate Your Energy

In the middle of your day, especially during stress or overwhelm:

  • Try orienting: look around the room and name things you see

  • Take 10 deep belly breaths

  • Stretch your arms wide and open your chest

These simple acts send your body a message: I’m okay. I’m here. I can soften.

Evening Wind-Down: Shift into Restoration

As the day ends, let your body know it’s time to rest:

  • Turn off screens 30–60 minutes before bed

  • Practice legs-up-the-wall pose or gentle yin stretching

  • Light a candle or play calming music

  • Breathe deeply and thank your body

These daily rituals help your body feel safe, seen, and supported.
